1/16 PW Morning Report: Strowman Hijacks Raw, Curb Stomp Returns, Latest on Paige, Legends Returning & More

WWE News

It was an interesting night on WWE Raw last night as Braun Strowman hijacked nearly the entire first hour of the program. After being “fired” by Kurt Angle for his actions the week before, the “Monster Among Men” destroyed dozens of security guards, wreaked havoc on Angle’s office, flipped a 16-wheeler and attempted to murder Michael Cole (WATCH). The drama also continued between Jason Jordan and Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns took on the Miztourage in a handicap match, and a member of Absolution picked up a huge upset over 3-time champion Sasha Banks. It appears that the Curb Stomp has been unbanned by Vince McMahon, as Seth Rollins pulled out his old finishing move to put away Finn Balor in last night’s WWE Raw main event. What’s more, Balor appeared to be shaken up after the match, selling the effects of a potential concussion that could instantly legitimate the manuever in story. (DETAILS)

Paige has been officially pulled from the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble match (LINK). She still appeared on WWE Raw last night assisting the other members of Absolution during Sonya Deville’s match against Sasha Banks, and after the bout commented about how disappointed she was in having to miss the historic Rumble (WATCH). Here’s the very latest on her condition and what doctors told her before returning to WWE (LINK).

On the Raw 25th Anniversary front, we have some pretty big updates. Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler will reunite to call the action from the Manhattan Center (DETAILS), and both Eric Bischoff and Chris Jericho have been confirmed to appear (DETAILS). WWE also confirmed a host of legendary Divas including Torrie Wilson, Michelle McCool, Jackie Moore, Marie Kanellis, Kelly Kelly and the Bella Twins (FULL LIST).

After giving the Grand Championship to Matt Sydal, then Josh Matthews, then to current Global Champion Austin Aries all in the same series of television tapings, it looks like Impact Wrestling do in fact have plans to completely scrap the title (DETAILS). It was introduced as a unique concept where title holders had to defend the belt in MMA-style rounds with judges awarding points, but that ruleset was never enforced at the last set of tapings.
