PSG likely lineup v Reims: Lionel Messi returns to action

PSG will be back at full strength tonight as they kick off a pivotal month for Christophe Galtier’s maiden season in charge, with several match-ups against Marseille and a Champions League knockout clash against Bayern Munich coming into view.

Before that, though, they’ll have the chance to establish a five-point lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table, after both Lens and Marseille drew yesterday. The Champagne side, though, are unbeaten since Englishman Will Still took charge, and had previously held the champions to a draw in their previous encounter this season.

Lionel Messi returns to the starting lineup for PSG, having been rested for Monday night’s cup success over Pays de Cassel, and leads the line alongside Kylian Mbappé. The Frenchman has Edinson Cavani’s all-time club record now well within his sights, sitting just four off the Uruguayan’s tally of 200 in all competitions. Marco Verratti starts from the bench while Nuno Mendes is rested altogether, as Galtier looks to take no chances with his players’ fitness ahead of a busy month.

PSG predicted XI v Reims:

Gianluigi Donnarumma – Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Sergio Ramos, Juan Bernat – Carlos Soler, Renato Sanches, Vitinha, Neymar – Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé. (via L’Éq)
