Two Six Nations titles in two days as the Ireland women win big in Scotland

TWO SIX NATIONS trophies in two days is a pretty special feeling if you are an Irish rugby fan and the Ireland women accomplished the feat with a resounding 73-3 win in Scotland.

Captain Niamh Briggs was obviously fired up before the game because she cried tears of passion just like the Bull used to during his international career.

But Briggs put her emotions to one side early on as she scored the first try of the day. The Irish pack pulverised the Scottish eight and the maul was a particularly potent weapon.

Further tries from Claire Molloy, Alison Miller (three), Jenny Murphy, Heather O’Brien, Gillian Bourke, Paula Fitzpatrick, Sophie Spence and Tania Rosser followed as Tom Tierney guided the women to a Six Nations title in his first year in charge.

It was also the team’s second championship in three seasons.

It capped a truly remarkable weekend for Irish rugby which we will never forget.
