The YouTube King of Useless Machines

Joseph Herscher's YouTube videos get millions of views. They’d better—Herscher spends a lot of time on them. That’s because Herscher’s channel, Joseph's Machines, isn't just an ongoing vlog or series of simple tutorials (not that there's anything wrong with that). Instead, it's a series of videos in which the comedian demonstrates the overly complex Rube Goldberg-style devices he builds in his New York apartment. (Personal fave: "The Cake Server".) "I make useless machines," Herscher says. Useless in that there are much easier ways to do the things his machines do? Yes. Useless in the sense that they’re not extremely hypnotic to watch? No. Watch as the useless machine king of YouTube builds and shows off a lunch-serving contraption in the video above.
