Every comic book convention is full of highly engaged fans. People who aren't utterly consumed by pop culture don’t take time off work and sometimes travel hundreds of miles to go to panels dedicated to their favorite topics. But the truly dedicated of the bunch are always the cosplayers—the fans who not only made a pilgrimage to the con but spent the months before it meticulously crafting a costume in honor of their favorite character. They are truly the devoted.

That fidelity deserves to be rewarded. So WIRED sent photographer Zak Krevitt out to scour the floor at New York Comic Con last weekend to find all the best cosplayers he could. And find he did: vampires; videogame characters; Cersei Lannister; folks working every kind of cosplay possible. He even found Spider-Man, Pennywise, and Beetlejuice.

And that’s just the beginning. Above are all the best cosplays from NYCC. Come for the intensely loyal fandom, stay for the incredible attention to detail and excellent makeup work. It’s worth it.
