CHATHAM, MA — The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy’s first footage of an interaction between two great white sharks was shot by a drone off Cape Cod Monday. The video was taken by Nate Jensen off the coast of Chatham.
The Conservancy said its local shark science team plans to study a high resolution version of the video to learn more about the interaction.
The Cape Cod coast has already seen its fair share of shark sightings this summer. Last week, a research team from the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy spotted at least 11 great whites in Cape Cod Bay, and a beach on the Atlantic Ocean side of the Cape was briefly closed after a shark was reported close to shore.

Officials have been examining ways to keep sharks away from the Cape’s shores and better address bites in the wake of two attacks on people last summer. Nauset Beach last month received first aid materials used to immediately respond to a shark attack.
