UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Fans of Dutch master painter Vincent Van Gogh should hurry over to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The museum’s European Paintings Department is currently displaying its full collection of Van Gogh’s works — 16 paintings — in two adjacent galleries.

The reunification of these 16 Van Gogh works marks the first time in four years that the collection is being hosted in the same location, arts publication Artnet first reported. The feat was made possible when the paintings “Oleanders,” created in 1888, and “L’Arlésienne,” created in 1888-1889, returned to The Met’s Fifth Avenue location, according to the report. The paintings were on loan to Japan and Amsterdam.
The works will be hosted in galleries 822 and 825 located in the collection of “19th- and early 20th-century European paintings and sculpture” on the museum’s second floor. The Van Gogh collection will be on display until at least February 2019, Artnet first reported.
“Visitors can enjoy highlights from the artist’s prolific years in France, including portraits, still lifes, and landscapes,” assistant curator for The Met’s Department of European Paintings Alison Hokanson wrote in a blog post. “These masterpieces are often committed to exhibitions around the world, making this a not-to-be-missed occasion.”
