'Bacon Intern' Needed For Restaurant Pig-Out Gig, And It Pays Big

RIVERSIDE, CA — A one-day assignment eating bacon and getting paid to do it? When pigs fly? Read on, bacon lovers.

The fast-casual, Riverside-based restaurant chain, Farmer Boys, is looking to fill a “bacon internship.” And get this: The one-day gig pays $1,000.

Intern duties will include eating such Farmer Boys’ bacon-topped items as the Bacon Boy Cheeseburger, Farmer’s Burger and Farmer’s Chopped Cobb Salad, as well as rating each strip of bacon for flavor and thickness and sampling some menu items in development.

“At Farmer Boys, we’re firm believers in customer feedback and listening to our guests, and we felt that hiring our first ever bacon intern would add another layer to that philosophy and help make our food as pork-tacular as it can be,” said Larry Rusinko, vice president and chief marketing officer.

To win the coveted slot, applicants can apply through Aug. 20 by posting a photo or video on their personal Instagram account giving a true porker’s plea on why they would be the best “bacon intern” for Farmer Boys.

Applicants must tag @FarmerBoysFoods in the post and use the hashtag #FarmerBoysBaconIntern in their captions. Accounts must be set to public to be considered, company officials said.

Candidates must be at least 18 years old and “a certified lover of all things pork,” the company added. Also the job is in Southern California, so applicants must be willing to commute for the gig. Once the application process has closed, Farmer Boys will contact the “new hire” to coordinate their availability.

The selected “bacon intern” will be announced on @FarmerBoysFood Instagram on Aug. 27. Rules and eligibility requirements can be found here.
