Impact Wrestling just held their Redemption pay-per-view this past weekend, and the show was noteworthy when it came to their champions. Not only were a whole new set of championship titles unveiled during the show, but the main event of the evening saw Lucha Underground sensation Pentagon Jr. defeated Austin Aries to win the Impact World Championship for the first time in the luchador’s career. Aries had been the champion in Impact for 102 days, which made Pentagon’s win even more impressive. Several photos of Pentagon Jr. holding the title alongside several Lucha Underground stars were posted online after he won the championship at Redemption.
Quite a few changes have taken place during Impact Wrestling’s latest set of TV tapings, and PWInsider has reported on a few SPOILERS from those tapings. Unfortunately for fans of Pentagon Jr., his reign as world champion did not last very long as Austin Aries has already defeated him to win back the world title. That does not appear to be the only major title change to take place during the Impact Wrestling tapings. It was also reported that Su Yung has captured the Knockouts Championship. There is currently no word on when the episodes featuring these title changes are expected to air on Pop TV. More results from the Impact Wrestling tapings will be provided later on.
With the Women’s Revolution continuing to accelerate at a rapid pace in WWE, fans have been pleading with WWE to bring in a permanent female commentator. Current WWE broadcaster Renee Young did very briefly try her hand as a commentator during her time in NXT, but Young herself has admitted that she did not feel comfortable in the role and went back to serving as an interviewer and Kickoff panel host. However, Renee Young just recently tweeted that the feedback that she has received from fans has made her reconsider her stance on being an announcer on WWE programming. It has been reported recently that WWE is looking to add a female announcer permanently for their shows very soon.
Thanks for the love guys! I feel like the more I get asked about this the more I feel like I’d be open to trying it again. In the right circumstance. But honestly, any woman that could step up and fill that role would be huge for WWE. ???? https://t.co/vQc6VBKT57
