Thanks to rajah.com reader Rem Martinez for sending this in!
Hey guys, I just came back from the NXT Live Event from the Hollywood
Palladium in Hollywood, CA. Here is the Champ’s report of the show.
Match #1
No Way Jose vs Roderick Strong
Both men received a nice reaction from the crowd. A small PWG chant broke out
(A local promotion that Strong has wrestled for). A good back and forth match
with Roderick getting the 1-2-3 after connecting with the Sick Kick.
Winner: Roderick Strong
Match #2
SAnitY (Sawyer Fulton and Alexander Wolfe w/ Nikki Cross and Eric Young) vs
TM61 in a Semi Finals Match in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
Eric Young plays his role perfectly. Fulton and Wolfe attack Miller and
Thorne before the bell rings. A fun match that ends with TM61 getting the win
with a roll up. 1-2-3.
Winners: TM61
Match #3
Mandy Rose vs Daria Berenato
This match was a botchfest and a half. Neither of these two women are close
to where they should be in the ring. Mandy Rose looks absolutely amazing in
person. Daria wins a short and sloppy match.
Winner: Daria Berenato
Match #4
Tye Dillinger vs Buddy Murphy
Tye was way over with the crowd. The sold out crowd was chanting “10” for
almost the entire match. Murphy tried to get a 10 chant, but the crowd
started chanting 2 instead. Tye wins a decent match after hitting the Tye
Breaker for the 1-2-3.
Winner: Tye Dillinger
Match #5
#DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) vs The Authors of Pain w/Paul
Ellering in a Semi Finals Match in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic
A back and forth match. #DIY got more offense in on the Authors than any
other team to date. Akam was disposed of on the outside while #DIY connected
with a double superkick. Rezar is out. Before #DIY can get the 3 count,
Ellering gets on the apron to distract the referee. This allows the Authors
of Pain to recover and put Ciampa away with their Clothesline/Russian Leg
Sweep finisher.
Winners: The Authors of Pain
Intermission time
Match #6
Peyton Royce and Billie Kay vs Ember Moon and Asuka
Before the match started, Ring announcer Mike Rome announced that Kay and
Royce want to be known as the most iconic team in NXT. This was a a very good
match. Ember took most the abuse and Asuka came in like a house of fire after
the hot tag. Ember hits her Diving Stunner on Royce, Asuka gets Kay in the
Asuka Lock and gets the Submission.
Winners: Ember Moon and Asuka by Submission
NXT General Manager William Regal comes out to thank the crowd for making NXT
what it is today.
Match #7
Bobby Roode vs Kota Ibushi
Both men received huge ovations. Chants of “This is Awesome” and “Holy Sh*t”
broke out before the match even started. This match was the quality you would
see on a Takeover Special. Kota connects with the Golden Star Powerbomb to
put Roode away 1-2-Kickout. Crowd is absolutely stunned. A “Fight Forever”
chant broke out. Roode eventually hits the Glorious Drop for the 1-2-3.
Winner: Bobby Roode
Side note. Kota was walking up the entrance way very fast. He was holding his
head as well. I hope he is ok.
Main Event
Shinsuke Nakamura (c) vs Samoa Joe vs Eric Young in a Triple Threat Match for
NXT Championship
The match started with a Joe/Nakamura staredown. Eric didn’t appreciate that
and got in the middle of it. EY took most of the abuse in this on. Eric did
receive a nice “Super Eric” chant. The Champion puts away the SAnitY member
with the Kinshasa for the 1-2-3.
Winner: And Still NXT Champion Shinsuke Nakamura
After the match. Joe and Shinsuke exchange words, but Samoa Joe leaves
shortly thereafter.
