AEW Double Or Nothing Buys Are In: Biggest Non WWE Or WCW PPV Ever?

The early numbers for the inaugural All Elite Wrestling pay-per-view are in.

As first reported by our own Rajah Kumar (@RajahNews) on Monday, just two days after the show, AEW’s Double Or Nothing reportedly drew approximately 100,000 buys between pay-per-view and digital purchases.

Dave Meltzer (@DaveMeltzerWON) reported in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Double Or Nothing drew an estimated 98,000 buys between PPV and digital sales, with it being nearly a 50/50 split between the two.

This is telling in terms of AEW’s fan base, as most current company’s are estimated at drawing 15 to 25 percent of their orders digitally.

A reported two-thirds of the sales came from the United States. Countries with the most sales following U.S. were the United Kingdom at a strong number two (likely due to the ITV 4 television deal), Australia, Germany and Canada.

With replay buys, the Double Or Nothing show is expected to end up finishing as the biggest PPV in pro wrestling history that wasn’t produced by WWE or WCW.

AEW: Double Or Nothing took place on Saturday, May 25, 2019 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
