As reported by Ouest France, upon reaching 75 games in charge, Rennes coach Bruno Genesio has broken a number of records during his reign at SRFC.
Despite finishing a slightly underwhelming fourth last season, Rennes played arguably Ligue 1’s best football and won a club record points total of 66, scored their highest number of league goals with 82, broke the club record for number of Ligue 1 games won in a season with 20 and achieved their best ever goal difference of +42. Despite a relatively slow start this season, the club’s 21 points total after 11 games is their best this century too, since a 23 point haul in 1998/99.
After 75 matches, Genesio’s win percentage of 56% is better than Julien Stéphan (45%), Guy Lacombe (45%), Frédéric Antonetti (42%), Laszlo Bölöni (42%), Sabri Lamouchi (40%), Vahid Halilhodzic (38%), Philippe Montanier (37 %), Pierre Dréossi (37%), Christian Gourcuff (36%) and Rolland Courbis (35%). In that time, Rennes have averaged exactly two goals a game, which is by far the best of those coaches with Stéphan’s 1.43 goals per game a distant second.
Genesio has only lost one of 13 European games in charge too, a major run of success by previous standards which brings his points per game to 2.07, another record.
