Canada election: Justin Trudeau faces the fight of his life as scandals tarnish his liberal golden-boy image

The stretch of low-rise suburbia on the outskirts of Toronto known as the 905 is one of Canada’s most diverse regions.  Mansions line the same broad thoroughfares as social housing – along with Sikh temples, mosques, strip malls and baseball diamonds.

With its mixture of soccer moms, young professionals, and immigrant communities, the 30 electoral districts of the 905 have swung between Canada’s two main parties for decades. 

And in almost every election bar since the 1960s, they have backed the winning party.  So it can be of no little concern to Justin Trudeau that, just days out from the general election, many voters here are undecided, reflecting national polls that have put him neck-and-neck…
