Champions League: Macerata had no trouble with going further

Italian team won the second game with Asseco Resovia and now they are going to meet Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo on their way to Final Four.

The first part of this game was partly dominated by Italians, with their great block and strong service. Resovia started to fight back at the end of the first set, with Zbigniew Bartman being back after injury. Polish champion eliminated quite big leverage of Macerata, but it was too late this time as Simone Parodi finished the last action (25:23).

Lube Banca made sure that nothing wrong is going to happen to them. They closed the second part even quicker and earned almost 70% efficiency in attack and scored a few more points with block.

It made Polish team very angry, as they managed to take a lead and keep it to the last second. Thanks to much more courageous game, Resovia gave some more hope to their fans and themselves by winning this part 25:23.

Still it was just temporary reassurance as the fourth set was totally dominated by Lube Banca Marche that finished it off with a speedy and quite impressive 25:14. Spiker Ivan Zaytsev was the top scorer of the match with 18 points, while Bartman registered 17 for Resovia.

“We are very happy with our qualification for the Playoffs 6” said head coach Alberto Giuliani “but not with our performance tonight. We could close the match in the third set but we didn’t, maybe because we thought that we already got the victory. We must learn to be concentrated all the way through if we want to get good results in the next round of the competition where we’ll play against a very strong and well-known team such as Cuneo. In any case, we and our fans are all very happy tonight”.
