L’Équipe report that defender Joris Gnagnon arrived in Saint-Étienne last night to negotiate his signing as a free agent, having been released by Sevilla two months ago.
The former Rennes man, who returned to the Brittany side a year and a half ago on loan, is now set to return to Ligue 1 again.
Les Verts had been looking for a player who could arrive without a transfer fee – as a result of financial restrictions – and cover two defensive positions ahead of the absences of Harold Moukoudi and Saïdou Sow for the Africa Cup of Nations, representing Cameroon and Guinea respectively.
The 24-year-old’s wage demands are reported to be affordable for the club, with Gnagnon looking to relaunch his career after initially breaking onto the scene in 2016.
