— The latest on plans for NXT’s move to live TV, specifically the USA Network, is that it is potentially a “done deal” with the likelihood that it will be announced shortly, according to pwinsider.com. WWE has yet to make any announcement or statement on the matter and they haven’t even made any changes to their internal NXT TV taping schedule but NXT staff in Florida were recently informed to prepare for a “longer show” and that things would be “changing very soon.”
— As per both f4wonline.com and pwinsider.com, there have been some discussions about launching NXT on USA before AEW starts their show on TNT, perhaps as early as the 9/11 taping at Full Sail University. The live show would serve as sort of a test-run before they go live weekly in early October. There are also some suggestions that perhaps rather than go live every week, NXT would be taped one week and live the other but still run in the same Wednesday timeslot against AEW. Vince McMahon is reportedly not just adamant to run head-to-head against AEW, but he wants NXT to be first to start airing wrestling on a Wednesday and while it was previously thought that FOX’s FS1 was the likely destination, the USA Network not only came into discussions over the last couple of weeks, but have emerged as the favorite.
