Nantes have confirmed the signing of American defender Matt Miazga on a season-loan from Chelsea.

The 23-year-old had been lined up for a move to fellow Ligue 1 side Caen, but after late interest, Miazga has instead chosen the Stade de la Beaujoire as his destination this season.

Miazga has spent the last two seasons on loan at Eredivisie side Vitesse, helping the Dutch side to win the 2017 KNVB Cup – their first major trophy in the club’s history. He made 44 appearances last season in all competitions, scoring 4 goals.

The former New York Red Bulls youth product is also a USA international, having collected 7 caps since his senior debut in 2015.
