Charlotte Flair is now going to be challenging Natalya for the Smackdown Women’s Championship at Hell in a Cell. As noted earlier, it is rumored that the plan is for Charlotte to win the title very soon and then eventually face Ronda Rousey at Wrestlemania. Cageside Seats reports that WWE does have big plans for Charlotte, and she will likely be winning the title in her match against Natalya at the pay-per-view. Charlotte has been away for a while because she had been working on her book, and her father had a serious health scare. Now that Charlotte appears to be back for good, the company is looking to put the title on her much sooner rather than later.
It was recently announced that WWE would be bringing back the Starrcade pay-per-view name that used to be put on each year by WCW. The pay-per-view was viewed as WCW’s version of Wrestlemania, but it has not been used since the company was bought by WWE in 2001. The show is being brought back for a live event, but the company has not announced whether or not it will be airing on the WWE Network. Cageside Seats is now reporting that WWE is probably not going to be airing the live event on the network, and instead the choice to bring back WCW event names is likely being done just as a way to increase ticket sale for live events.
On the subject of ticket sales, multiple fans tweeted out several disheartening photos of the arena from last night’s Smackdown show being nearly half-empty. Photos show that nearly half of the arena was covered during last night’s episode of Smackdown. This comes right after similar news of this past Monday’s Raw from San Jose also having a very small number of people in attendance. In fact, WWE has been putting on multiple shows as of late with fewer fans in the building. The company typically does have trouble drawing in more fans during this particular time of year. WWE’s latest key indicators have shown that attendance in North America has been going down during the fall over the past three years.
