It was assumed that last week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown would take a serious hit due to being temporarily moved to FS1, as game three of the World Series was broadcast on FOX in WWE’s usual timeslot.
The final numbers are in, and it’s not pretty. Smackdown was watched by just 888,000 viewers last Friday night, the lowest score in the series’ long-running history.
The blue brand dropped a staggering 63% week-over-week, although that’s hardly a fair comparison as FS1 is available in less homes, there’s always going to be a drop-off with an unexpected change in networks, and things will likely return to normal this coming Friday.
The thing is, we still don’t really know what “normal” means for Smackdown viewership so far. The series started with almost 4 million viewers in its premiere on FOX earlier this month, but dropped significantly each week, to the point where last week’s show was only watched by 2.4 million people.
