As assumed last week when WWE’s taping schedule over the next few months was laid out, this year’s SummerSlam will emanate from the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
While WWE has yet to formally announce the news, PWInsider first reported the confirmation and our Dave Meltzer has also confirmed with Post Wrestling initially reporting the schedule.
SummerSlam was to be the centerpiece of four days of WWE shows (Raw, SmackDown, TakeOver) in Boston, MA, on the weekend of August 21st. However, in early May, city mayor Marty Walsh canceled all large gatherings in the city through Labor Day due to the pandemic.
John Pollock’s initial report had TakeOver on the books for Saturday, August 22nd with SummerSlam the next night as planned with TBDs as locations. The go-home editions of Raw and SmackDown will be taped that Monday.
The annual weekend is traditionally one of WWE’s biggest of the year.
