Speaking in an interview with Canal Football Club, Lyon’s latest signing 22-year-old central midfielder Bruno Guimarães admitted that he was heading for Atletico Madrid before OL came in for his services.

“This was the most difficult decision of my career to date, I thought for nights on end without sleeping. Atletico was my preferred option but they weren’t so persistent as to send me a message or give me a call, ask me how I was doing, if I needed something… As soon as Lyon made contact, there were very attentive towards me. They made me feel important, like I was a great player. They wanted me at all costs. Juninho was also crucial as well.”
