Social responsibility is not something that one would immediately associate with a terrorist group. But, a Somalia-based al-Qaeda affiliated group which calls itself Al Shabaab, believe it or not, has banned the use of single-use plastic bags!

The ban was announced by Radio Andalus, Al-Shabaab’s radio station, on Sunday claiming plastic bags “pose a serious threat to the wellbeing of humans and animals alike”.
