This week’s WWE Smackdown was largely focussed on John Cena’s quest to find a spot on the WrestleMania card. After losing the Royal Rumble and the Elimination Chamber, he’s now gone after the WWE Championship itself and went one-on-one with AJ Styles in the main event of Tuesday’s show. We also got a pretty good bout between Sami Zayn and Baron Corbin, singles action in the women’s division and a pretty excellent promo battle between the New Day and The Usos. “The Lesnar Situation”
Here’s what we know about the Brock Lesnar situation, with regards to him possibly “no-showing” this week’s episode of RAW: there are about a dozen different reports from generally regarded “legitimate” sources, and almost none of them are saying the same thing. He was not backstage for RAW in Anaheim, that much we do know (DETAILS), however several major reports are in agreement that he was originally scripted into the show (DETAILS). He was allegedly in Las Vegas on Sunday, but met with UFC President Dana White instead of attending Elimination Chamber, based off a photo White posted with Lesnar that day.
There are basically two schools of thought: that Vince pulled Lesnar from the show (DETAILS) in order for Roman Reigns to cut a shoot-style promo on him and garner the support of the fans – OR – Lesnar really did “no-show” RAW this week and is using UFC to once again leverage himself into a better contract. Logic says the first option is more than likely true and that the whole thing is a work, but the “Beast Incarnate” has a track record of holding up the company right before his contract expires.

CM Punk will be returning to television, but not in any wrestling capacity. He will join former WWE star Stu Bennett (aka Wade Barrett) as the hosts for the upcoming season of Ultimate Beastmaster on Netflix (DETAILS).
NJPW has announced the bracket for this year’s New Japan Cup, which will more than likely crown the next #1 contender to the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. Along with all three heavyweight champions, Kenny Omega was left out of this year’s tournament, stating that he needs to focus on fighting his friends as the Bullet Club continues to implode.
